Demystifying Energy Costs
Understanding energy costs can be a mystery for many companies. First, energy is a non-tangible item, though we do see evidence of its existence as lights illuminate, motors run, and so on. Second, companies are unsure how facilities and operations consume energy and how that translates to energy dollars spent. Freedom Energy Partners applies two principal concepts to bridge the mystery gap between using energy and paying for energy:
- Identifying how energy for your specific operations is consumed
- Understanding how your energy provider is billing for that consumption
Only when this is clearly understood can a meaningful and measurable solution be delivered.
Identifying How Energy Is Consumed
To identify how energy is consumed we evaluate how installed equipment (i.e., lighting, HVAC, computers, etc.) relates to business operational practices (i.e., hours of operation, temperature set points, daily routines for turning equipment on and off, etc.) to clearly identify the total energy consumption of the facility. This presents a comprehensive ‘snapshot’ of the current energy consumption to reveal opportunities for energy cost savings.
Understanding Utility Billing
Electric and gas invoices are complex and may be difficult to understand. For Freedom Energy Partners, these bills become valuable tools to help understand how energy consumption correlates to money spent, which in turn assists in identifying applicable solutions.
You will see how dollars spent translate into energy usage data. You will understand how and why you are billed for energy differently. You will know how your energy is being billed, what exactly is being billed for your specific operations, and how this relates to your daily operations.
